The main objective of the Slow Tourism Management project is to develop an integrated transnational Master study program offered by 7 universities from 6 countries. Under the leader – Univ. of Business in Wroclaw – PL, 2 HEIs would act as partner universities (Univ. of Pannonia - HU; European Univ. Tbilisi - GE), and 4 other HEIs would act as academic associate partners (College of Polytechnics Jihlava - CZ; Alanya HEP University - TR; Batumi State Univ. – GE; Baku Engineering Univ. - AZ). Tourism is one of the main sectors that fosters economic growth and social well-being of the society at various levels. It helps to create employment opportunities, eradicate poverty, raise awareness of cultural heritage and ensure sustainability. The COVID-19 pandemics has shown that mass tourism and overtourism bring hazards not only to the natural environment, but it may be a threat to human life. Slow tourism is a safer option, and brings other benefits. Collaboration of the 6 project countries will have benefits for advancing internationalization, new approaches, innovations, experience sharing and increase our cross-border cooperation. The Program utilizes the EU's sustainable development goals. It includes countries located in the central and eastern part of Europe and bordering with Asia. With their large areas of unspoiled nature, many national parks, mountainous and coastal regions, beautiful rural areas and rich cultural heritage, our countries have a huge potential for development of slow/sustainable tourism. But this calls for professionals who know how to manage this kind of tourism. All involved institutions will benefit from active international cooperation and widen their partner network. We will offer the tourism industry future tourism experts on sustainable tourism and this will bring positive effects on the EU sustainable tourism development, following the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism.
