Description

Description

The project Small Green Towns for a Big Green Europe is planned as a four-day meeting of citizens from 14 European countries, two of which are not members of the EU. It will bring together participants from 17 partner organizations from Croatia, Poland, Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Spain,Portugal, Romania, Greece, Slovenia, Malta, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, including local public bodies, civil society organizations and citizens. The project is scheduled to run from 11/09 to 14/09/2025 when Klanjec will host 205 participants from partner organizations. Project activities will also include 165 participants from Town Klanjec. The effects of climate change combined with environmental and social factors represent the biggest challenge today. They are increasingly felt at the local level, and growing resilience and adaptation to climate change is being mentioned more and more often in the context of the future development of our local communities, cities and municipalities. The goal of the project is to promote and develop participative mechanisms available to citizens in creating and making decisions related to the effectiveness of the European Green Deal. We want to encourage citizens to influence the adoption of fair decisions based on EU solidarity through their active involvement in their local and regional community, which can be used to reduce the negative impact on nature. The ambition is to network citizens with the aim of transforming our living environment and lifestyles around three fundamental EU values: sustainability, inclusiveness and solidarity.
