Smart Care Assist is looking for answers to the question of how care beds with smart textiles can relieve caregivers and at the same time support optimal care for patients. Existing nursing staff is strongly challenged by the lack of skilled workers and the challenging tasks. Assistance systems can relieve caregivers if they are well adapted to the needs of all those involved. Smart Care Assist investigates research questions related to the care bed and smart textiles. The interdisciplinary, iterative process involves both research and nursing institutions as well as specialised companies from Bavaria and Austria. They develop new solutions at the interface of care and technology, which should bring a noticeable relief in nursing practice. Activities: Data collection in the nursing practice of several care establishments on the behaviour and condition of the persons to be cared for, care interventions and challenges Evaluation of existing assistance systems with regard to their usefulness in day-to-day care. Derive solutions to improve day-to-day care. Further and new development of technical solutions for sensor technology in the care bed. Work out organizational and process improvements to the nursing bed. Testing in the Living Care Lab. Results: Increase the understanding of what constitutes an effective care assistance system. Prototype of a sensor-based information system with data from the nursing bed. Organizational and process improvement possibilities for care in the nursing bed.
