Smart Cities Mission India

cancelled

The Smart Cities mission was a 10-year programme initiated by the Indian government aiming to develop cities that offer decent living options to every resident and provide a high quality of life comparable to developed European cities. The mission targeted adequate water supply, assured electricity, sanitation, public transport, affordable housing for the poor, safety of women, health, and education. However, the project failed to make significant impact, with many funds unspent and limited progress on the ground. It focused on high-end infrastructure in already developed city centers, neglecting basic amenities and the urban poor.
