Smart land-sea mobility

From Sardinia to the French Riviera, passing through Corsica, Tuscany and Liguria, a single info-mobility tool will allow residents, tourists and commuters to travel in these regions while planning their trips and being informed in real-time. The above is the objective of the project MOBIMART (from the Italian for Intelligent Sea and Land Mobility), proposed by a broad Italian-French partnership of 11 public bodies under the 2014/2020 Italy-France Maritime Cooperation Programme. The approach to the project is to conceive trip-based services, considering the starting and arrival points regardless of how one travels and administrative or morphological (island, mountain) barriers. The heart of the activities is the creation of an integrated platform for multiple transport services (ship, bus, train, plane) to communicate intelligently with each other. This will make for easier travel and access to mobility information. There are two innovative aspects to the project. One is the exchange of information between systems, which are currently not doing so, to provide a useful basis for the development of further services beyond the end of the project, making cross-border relations stronger. The other is a multiplicity of new products: websites, travel planners and tools, apps for mobile devices and social channels. The project will take three years to reach these objectives. It will be broken down into the following components: standardisation of mobility information from partner systems, so they can all be used on one platform, and creation of specific info-mobility services pertaining to ports, provinces, municipalities and regions.
