The overall objective of the City of Amsterdam with this project is the development and completion of the ‘Smart Mobility Hub’ Amsterdam (SMH). The SMH will function as a multimodal hub where different transport modes come together. The project focuses on delivering the SMH with International Touring car Terminal (ITT) facilities, car parking spaces, park and ride facilities, facilities for passengers with reduced mobility, infrastructure and facilities for shared mobility options, and bicycle parking spaces. This will be complemented with safe bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure and facilities between the SMH and the surrounding (inter)national train, metro and bus stations. Furthermore, the hub will be operated by implementing a smart Artificial Inteligence (AI) hub management system. The SMH will relieve current mobility congestion and contribute to a cleaner living environment. The hub will be integrated as much as possible with the international (Rhine-Alpine and North Sea-Baltic TEN-T network), regional and local train network, metro network and the main traffic network (car and bicycle) of Metropole Region of Amsterdam. The increasing number of visitors means more traffic in the city center and the surrounding infrastructure. With the SMH, a large number of visitors can 'land' on the outskirts of the city, but still easily reach the city center within a few minutes, via local transport, such as a safe bicycle infrastructure. With the ITT, all international coach passengers departing from and arriving to Amsterdam will use the SMH. The SMH provides a seamless connection as there are options to continue the journey by shared mobility, train or tram. In addition, the SMH stimulates sustainable transport and clean air. In addition to parking facilities, shared mobility and 'zero-emission' transport are encouraged.
