All universities of applied sciences from the provinces of Zeeland and West Flanders are joining forces to build smart bridges towards SMEs and SMEs in the western part of the border region. Cautious steps have already been taken in this area, but the gap is still considerable to date. The colleges can use their applied research even more specifically to provide technological services, which strengthens the region’s innovation capacity. This project focuses on product and service development, technology transfer, implementation of innovation, developing networks and clusters for open innovation and supporting technological and applied research With the support of TUA West, OC West and Dockwise, the colleges will set up a smart service for SMEs across borders, on the one hand through product-technical cooperation processes, on the other hand by focusing on the guidance to valorise the innovations. The trajectories will be able to cover a variety of topics, such as solutions to be able to store quickly perishable foods for longer without compromising taste, robotisation in healthcare, and the right type of lamps for greenhouse horticulture. The experience will be shared through cross-border expert days and the knowledge network will be further anchored.
