Smith-Carney Oil Pipeline Project

A proposed new oil export pipeline from Alberta to the West Coast of British Columbia, including consideration of five potential ports in British Columbia. The project is part of an energy and climate deal between Prime Minister Mark Carney and Alberta Premier Danielle Smith, aiming to provide Alberta special exemptions from federal environmental laws and political support for the pipeline. The project includes cooperation agreements on impact assessments, methane equivalency, carbon pricing equivalency, and a trilateral MOU with the Pathways companies for carbon capture.
