Smith-Carney Oil Pipeline Project

A new oil export pipeline project from Alberta to the West Coast of British Columbia, proposed under a memorandum of understanding between Prime Minister Mark Carney and Alberta Premier Danielle Smith. The project includes special exemptions from federal environmental laws and political support, with plans to consider five potential ports in British Columbia. The project aims to facilitate oil transportation and includes cooperation on impact assessments, methane equivalency, carbon pricing equivalency, and a trilateral MOU with the Pathways companies for carbon capture.
