Description

Description

The project involves the modernization, expansion, operation, and maintenance of São Paulo State’s waterway crossings system through a long-term public-private partnership (PPP). Under a 20-year concession, the private partner will invest approximately R$2.5 billion (US$449 million) to upgrade 14 ferry routes that connect coastal, metropolitan, and inland regions, serving around 11 million passengers and 10 million vehicles annually. The scope encompasses the acquisition of more than 40 new vessels—most of which are fully electric—the modernization and expansion of approximately 20 terminals, the implementation of advanced operational control and automated fare systems, and the construction of new maintenance and support facilities. The project emphasizes sustainability, safety, and service reliability, and is notable for being the first PPP in Brazil certified under the Blue Dot Network, reflecting high standards of governance, environmental performance, and social impact.
