Description

Description

The aim of the first tranche of the project is to contribute to the social and economic reintegration of verified ex-combatants in Ethiopia and to strengthen social cohesion in the host communities. The aim of the second tranche of the project is to improve access to cross-sectoral support services for survivors of violence against women in the conflict-affected target communities in Ethiopia. The psychosocial services are offered in health stations, hospitals and so-called one-stop centers. As part of the 3R-4-CACE project, the employees of these facilities are trained so that both the quantity and quality of the psychosocial services are improved. Highly traumatized people are treated with Narrative Exposure Therapy. This special therapy was developed for this group of people and successfully tested in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is implemented by the Ethiopian government, which contracts out some specialized providers for this purpose. In addition, the government has contracted UNICEF as a consultant to set up a nationwide delivery structure for psychosocial services. In the security-critical woredas - currently only in Tigray - UN organizations are responsible for implementation: UNOPS is responsible for the infrastructure component and UNFPA is responsible for the psychosocial services.
