The FC project SFD IX Rural Development and Employment continues the support of the Yemeni Social Fund for Development (SFD) that began in 2003 in a ninth phase. It is directly linked to the SFD I-VIII projects. As part of the state's economic and social policy, the SFD finances measures to rehabilitate and expand the social and economic infrastructure in poor areas across the country. The use of FC funds is intended exclusively for labour-intensive infrastructure measures of the SFD with a wage share of at least 40%. The aim of the FC measure is to make a contribution to improving the living conditions of poor population groups, especially in rural areas. By providing basic infrastructure in a way that is geared towards poverty, the SFD makes a significant contribution to alleviating the consequences of the political crisis for poor population groups. A financial contribution of EUR 7.44 million is being made available as part of the FC measure.
