Description

Description

The Social Investment Fund for Moldova aims to a) help empower rural communities by strengthening their capacities to make decisions, organize, and manage; and b) improve the quality of basic social and economic services for rural populations in Moldova, particularly the poor. There are three components. The first component improves delivery of basic services by rehabilitating village and social infrastructure in rural communities through micro-projects twinned with programs to improve services. The second component leverages project resources to finance small innovative micro-project/programs to address the programs associated with the institutionalization of children and the evolving problems of children caused by economic or social dislocations, including parental neglect. The third component targets community groups, local nongovernmental organizations, local contractors, and local government to build capacity in skills and relationships, and to foster new community-government partnerships in the management of social and economic infrastructure.
