Description
Description | Eurodiaconia is committed to a Europe of social justice where everyone can thrive and realize their fullest potential. With 54 members in 32 countries representing over 35 000 organisations we have a vast, engaged membership in all parts of the European Union and neighbouring countries, we bring together providers of services on a not for profit basis and stakeholders in the development of social policies at local, regional, national and European levels. We see the European Pillar of Social Rights as being an opportunity to reverse the negative impacts of poverty and social exclusion, particularly among vulnerable groups, update welfare systems and ensure that social services are affordable, available, accessible and of high quality for all. Our work plan focuses on the implementation and impact of the EPSR through the already proposed initiatives such as the Child Guarantee, European Care Strategy, Adequate Minimum Income, addressing homelessness, access to essential services and others. We are also concerend by how we can acheive a just transition by maintaining social standards and quality and access of employment. At the same time, we also need to look at how social service providers can incorporate digital and green developments in their services operationaly and structurally. We will accompany this with regular and targeted monitoring of the effectiveness of the EPSR through our analysis of the European Semester and the Recovery and Resilience Plans. We will also build capacity among our members to engage on EU driven social policy topics and implement communications and dissemination activities to promote the reality of Social Europe and the ambition for the future. We will work extensively with our membership but also with partners from other NGO's, think tanks, European Institutions, media, social partners and local and regional authorities. Ultimately we want to ensure that no one is left behind and that our European Union is a social union. |
