Description

Description

The project is the third phase of the Social Protection for Mothers and Children (1,000 Day Program) project in the context of COVID-19. Like the previous projects, it pays cash transfers to pregnant women and mothers of small children under two years of age in Sudan to support this particularly vulnerable group and contribute to food security and the healthy development of children. The transfer payments are supplemented by nutrition-related awareness-raising measures. The transfer payments can strengthen women's resilience and prevent physical and cognitive underdevelopment of children due to malnutrition. In addition, child and infant mortality should be reduced. The target group of the program are the additional 30,000 women with 30,000 small children in Sudan in new project areas. The funding enables transfer payments over the full first 1,000 days of the small children's lives. In addition, the management information system developed in the first phase to improve registration, payment and monitoring processes is to be integrated into the established system architecture of the authorities in the new project areas, thus strengthening the state social security network that is currently being set up.
