Description

Description

The Social Protection for Mothers and Children (1,000 Days Program) project in the context of COVID-19 pays cash transfers to pregnant women and mothers of small children under two years of age in Sudan to support this particularly vulnerable group during the COVID-19 pandemic and to contribute to food security and the healthy development of children. At the same time, the state social security network is being strengthened by setting up a management information system and the transfer payments are being supplemented by nutrition-related awareness-raising measures. The target group of the program is basically 50,000 women with 50,000 small children in Sudan. The transfer payments can strengthen women's resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic and prevent physical and cognitive underdevelopment of children due to malnutrition. In addition, child and infant mortality is to be reduced.
