Description	In one of the fastest privatizations in Africa, Congo pushed through the privatization of Societe d'Exploitation de Telecoms (SET), also known as Sotelco, which was previously known as Office Nationale des Postes et Telecommunications (ONPT), in under one year. The government selected Atlantic Tele-Network (ATN) in October to purchase a 67% stake in SET in October 1996 and signed the deal in the first quarter of 1997. Atlantic Tele-Network paid US$42.5 million for its stake. Atlantic Tele-Network agreed to invest US$120 million during its first three years of operations in Congo.
