Description
Description | According to estimates by The UN Refugee Agency, 82.4 million people worldwide were forcibly displaced at the end of 2020 as a result of persecution, conflict, violence, human rights violations or events that seriously disrupt public order. In 2022, a war breaks out in Europe, as a result of which over 5 million Ukrainians left their home. Due to the stable economic and political situation, EU countries are often chosen as the main destination for refugees and migrants. It is understandable that everyone wants access to safe housing, food, medical care, education and work - especially those who have had to flee from armed conflict. Unfortunately, after reaching their dream country, not everyone manages to adapt and lead the life they dreamed of. Various barriers stand in the way: lack of knowledge of the language, insufficient education, professional skills not adapted to the local labor market, lack of funds for rent or purchase of a flat. The public task is to create mechanisms that will enable the adaptation and independent functioning of newcomers to the greatest possible extent. The SIRM project concerns interregional exchange of experience between partners in the field of socio-economic integration of third-country nationals, including refugees and migrants. The project provides a broad exchange of experience and dissemination of knowledge on problems and needs of migrants and ways to solve the problem of migration. Thanks to the project, it will be possible to gain knowledge, learn about solutions operating in different EU countries and exchange experiences in the field of socio-economic integration of third-country nationals. As a result of the cooperation, partners from 8 countries: Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Italy, Croatia, the Netherlands, Ireland and Latvia, will improve regional policies regarding migrants and refugees and tighten cooperation. |
