Description
Description | This project represents an important step toward the development of a pan-European Quantum Communication Infrastructure (EuroQCI) and contributes to the integration of national quantum networks in the region. The project aims to establish a secure and resilient terrestrial cross-border quantum communication link between Sofia, Bulgaria, and Bucharest, Romania. It focuses on several key objectives. It seeks to interconnect the National Quantum Communication Infrastructures (NatQCIs) of Bulgaria and Romania through a secure, high-speed terrestrial quantum link. By deploying Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) technology, the initiative will strengthen cybersecurity and data protection, enabling ultra-secure communication for government bodies and critical infrastructure operators. Another central aim is to establish a reliable communication channel between the two capitals, ensuring secure quantum communication for governmental and institutional use. The project is designed to create a solid foundation for future quantum-enabled services, thereby supporting the digital transformation and cybersecurity strategies of both countries. Finally, it contributes to the broader EuroQCI effort by paving the way for seamless integration of terrestrial quantum communication systems with potential space-based solutions. |
