The Sol do Sertao Solar PV complex is located in the state of Bahia, Brazil. It has a total capacity of 415MWac. Sol do Sertao consists of eight greenfield PV plants divided into: Sol do Sertão OB I (142,87MW) Sol do Sertão OB II (149,67MW) Sol do Sertão OB III (122,46MW) Essentia Energia is developing the project. Essentia Energia is a company founded by Brazilian asset manager Pátria Investimentos. Three SPVs were created: Sol do Sertão OB I Energia Solar Ltda., Sol do Sertão OB II Energia Solar Ltda. and Sol do Sertão OB III Energia Solar Ltda. Total project cost is BRL 1,254.70m (USD 217.13m). Financing was provided by BNDES through a loan of BRL 910.00m (USD 157.48m). The rest BRL 344.70m (USD 59.65m) is provided by the sponsor in equity. Financial Closure was achieved in October 2020. The complex is scheduled to commence operations in the second half of 2021 and generate enough power to meet the demand of 580,000 homes.
