Solar Array and Battery Construction Schedule

Dana Twedell, Associate Vice President, Facilities Management The construction for the university's solar and battery project will begin May 22 and continue through November 6. This project will benefit our campus with 4.5 megawatts of renewable solar energy, as well as 1.5 megawatts of battery energy storage capacity. It is estimated that the university will save $6 million in utility costs over the next 30 years. There will be a groundbreaking ceremony on May 10 at 9 a.m. at Parking Lot J. The campus community is invited to attend. Construction will be in phases, beginning with parking lots E and F, followed by Lot J, then Lot R6, and finally with Lot R7. The map below shows the locations of the solar panels in each of the parking lots. Sufficient parking will be available in the adjacent parking lots during each construction phase. We are excited to begin the construction of this renewable and sustainable solar energy project.
