The project entails the construction and operation of a 1-MW solar farm located in Chernobyl. Solar Chernobyl is undertaking the project on behalf of the sponsors - Rodina Energy Group, a Ukrainian firm, and Enerparc Ag, a German clean energy company. Each of the sponsors holds 50% in the project company. This is a greenfield project awarded under license scheme and will benefit from cheap land and high feed-in tariffs offered by the government in order to incentivize developers to build renewable projects in the region. The structure has about 3,800 photovoltaic panels installed across an area of 1.6 hectares. The power generated by the farm will be enough to power about 200 households. All the electricity will be fed into the national grid on a long-term PPA. Total investment in the project stands at $1.2 million and is being funded entirely by the sponsors. Construction was launched in Jan 2018 and is expected to be completed by the end of H1 2018.
