Solar energy program in Chile

The program aims to promote the financing of the first commercial concentrating solar thermal (CSP) and photovoltaic (PV) systems on an industrial scale by providing needs-based and efficient access to loans. To this end, a refinancing loan will be granted via the Republic of Chile to the state-owned Chilean development bank Corporación de Fomento de la Producción (CORFO), which will pass the funds on to the final borrowers via financial intermediaries. The overarching development policy objective of the program is to make a contribution to national and global climate and environmental protection and to contribute to sustainable energy supply and security of supply in Chile by diversifying the energy matrix. The program's goal is for concentrating solar technologies and PV technologies on a commercial scale to be recognized as an energy generation option in Chile, to be increasingly expanded and disseminated, to increase security of supply and to make a significant contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The FC module objective is to support the market launch of solar technologies by providing needs-based and efficient access to loans for financing the first commercial CSP or one or more commercial PV systems of industrial scale. The target group of the program are investors and project developers. Chilean end consumers benefit indirectly from a secure, climate-friendly energy supply and the contribution to local and global environmental and resource protection.
