Description
Description | The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) clarified that it has not halted lending to renewable energy projects despite concerns of oversupply in the solar PV module industry. The ministry encourages informed capital deployment across the solar manufacturing ecosystem, promoting financing for upstream manufacturing stages such as solar cells, ingots-wafers, polysilicon, and solar module ancillaries, rather than just modules. India has expanded its solar module manufacturing capacity from 2.3 GW in 2014 to around 122 GW currently, with projections indicating module capacity could rise to nearly 200 GW and solar cell capacity to 100 GW in the next few years. |
