Description

Description

As of February 2012, Solarta Co. Ltd was a solar energy development company with a focus on developing utility scale assets in Thailand. In The Solarta - Suphanburi was a 34.25 MW photovoltaic project to be located in the Ayudhaya, Suphanburi and Nakorn Pathom provinces. The Project developer was a joint venture between SET-listed Ratchaburi Electricity Holding and Yanhee Solar Power Co. Ltd. The project was to consist of 8 distinct solar farms. The project would operate under the Very Small Power Producer (VSPP) model, a program that program uses the "bonus model" of feed-in tariff design where the final tariff paid is composed of "adders" on top of the avoided wholesale cost of generation. 10 year PPA with State Owned Utility. Revenue support includes an "adder" Feed in Tariff of THB 8 (USD 0.26 cents) over the market price of power for solar projects. The project reached financial close in June 2011. 75% of the USD 142.5 million total project cost was financed by loans from KASIKORNBANK Public Company Limited and Bangkok Bank Public Company Limited, with the rest from equity from the joint venture partners. All 8 solar farms in the Suphanburi project were scheduled for commissioning by the end of 2011. http://www.bakermckenzie.com/news/BMSolartaEightSolarFarmProjects/ http://www.renewableenergyworld.com/rea/news/article/2010/12/thailand-4300-mw-of-renewables-with-feed-in-tariffs
