Description

Description

Solidarity and inclusiveness have always been the backbone of the European society. Nowadays, there seem to be more vulnerable groups than ever. One of these are Vocational Education and Training (VET) high school students. When it comes to the EU topics, VET school students are deprived of basic knowledge regarding understanding the EU and its functioning. Accordingly, the main goal of this project is to improve teachers’ educational capabilities on the EU topics so they could transfer acquired knowledge to their students. Other than teachers, librarians from VET schools will also be the main target group since libraries are points of gathering for students who want to learn more. Since the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), University of Zagreb has a European Documentation Centre (EDC) as part of its library, the EDC will be the focal point of gathering and training during the project. FEB professors, who will participate in the project, are experts in their fields. Their competencies and expertise, which is in line with the EU goals, are essentials for the project performance. Trainings will be divided into four modules (Youth and active EU society, Diversity, Solidary Europe, Sustainable cities). For each module project members will apply a chronological method, from literature review to teacher trainings. Structured forms and rules will be set and followed through the whole process. Empowering VET teachers’ and librarians’ educational capabilities and skills by introducing EU content in their activities is the first step of transferring and delivering better knowledge of the EU to VET students. By offering structured trainings on the EU content, VET teachers and librarians will gain more confidence based on acquired knowledge and skills to organize and deliver the EU content to the students. Sharing and spreading the EU relevant topics will lead to educated and active EU youth citizens who will make a solidary and inclusive EU society.
