Description

Description

The Engaging Communities to Improve Health Outcomes (ECHO) project, financed by a US$20 million IDA credit, aims to enhance access and quality of primary health care (PHC) in targeted areas of the Solomon Islands, addressing critical gaps in non-communicable diseases (NCDs), communicable diseases, and maternal and child health and nutrition (MCH-N). Through an integrated Community Health Worker (CHW) program piloted in Guadalcanal and Choiseul provinces, climate-resilient infrastructure upgrades to rural health clinics, enhanced supply chain management at national and provincial level, and interoperable digital health systems, the project strengthens PHC delivery to improve health outcomes, particularly for rural and underserved populations. Aligned with the Solomon Islands’ National Development Strategy (2016-2035), National Health Strategic Plan (2022-2031) and the World Bank’s Country Partnership Framework, ECHO fosters health system resilience, gender equity, and community engagement to achieve sustainable development impacts.
