Description | The Solomon Islands Electricity Authority (SIEA) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed an agreement to develop the country's first large-scale solar project. The project aims to mobilize the first solar independent power producer in the Solomon Islands to develop a grid-connected solar power project in Honiara, the capital city, through private sector investment. The project preparation and tendering will be conducted by ADB, which will also support SIEA in awarding the electricity supply contract. A technical assessment will review the need for a battery energy storage system. |
