Description | Bilgin Enerji [Turkey] implemented the 90MW Soma Wind Energy Power Plant project, at Soma in Manisa province. The project was developed on a greenfield, merchant basis. The project received its generation license from the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) on July 17, 2008. Electricity generated by the wind farm was to be delivered to the Turkish national grid. Financial closure was reached in August 2009 with the signing of a EUR90 million (US$125.1 million) loan agreement between Bilgin Enerji and a local financial institution, Garanti Bank. The total project cost was estimated at EUR114 million (US$158.5 million). The plant was expected to become operational in the second half of 2010. |
