The proposed investment consists of a loan of up to €4 million by IFC to support the Société Malienne de Biscuiterie (“Somabis”) for the expansion of its production capacity at a new facility located in Banancoro, in the commune of Sanankoroba (south of Bamako) (“The Project”). Somabis’ current production capacity at its factory located in Baco Djicoroni (Bamako) is saturated. The Project will consist of the construction of a factory based on assembly of prefabricated plants, including four modular buildings (two for production, one for administration and one ancillary building comprising workshops, washrooms, workers resting areas and cafeteria); and the purchase of modular production equipment, including a biscuit line, a wafer line and a packaging line. Expected completion timeline is 24 months. Somabis (“the Company”) is a family-owned biscuit manufacturing business established in Mali since 2018.
