Description
Description | "The SONDER project, titled ""Each Life is as Vivid and Complex as Any Other,"" aims to address the challenges faced by AfroEuropeans, particularly black women. The term ""sonder"" refers to the realization that each passerby lives a life as vivid and complex as one’s own, filled with their own ambitions, routines, and stories. This project seeks to foster a deeper understanding of the experiences of AfroEuropeans through a comprehensive approach combining research, storytelling, education, and community engagement to combat afrophobia and promote multiculturalism. The SONDER project identifies several gaps in addressing afrophobia and structural racism. There is a lack of specific policies targeting afrophobia, insufficient reporting mechanisms for discrimination, a need for increased public and educational awareness about the impacts of racism, and a deficiency in support networks specifically for black women. Additionally, there is a significant gap in data collection on the experiences of black individuals, making it challenging to develop effective interventions. The motivation behind the SONDER project stems from the persistent and profound impacts of racism in Europe, particularly in Mediterranean countries. By fostering a comprehensive understanding of AfroEuropean lives, especially those of black women, the project aims to promote inclusivity and address specific forms of discrimination. The project’s holistic approach seeks to create lasting change and support for AfroEuropeans through storytelling, education, and community engagement. Project objectives: Combatting Afrophobia and Structural Racism. Promoting Color Consciousness: Advocate for a critical awareness of race and racism, acknowledging the significance of racial identity. Collecting and share personal narratives of AfroEuropeans, particularly black women. Developing educational materials and conduct workshops to raise awareness about structural racism. Fostering Cross-Cultural Understanding." |
