Song Bung JSC was planning the development of the 29 MW Song Bung 6 Hydropower Plant, on the Bung river, Ma Cooih commune and Ka Dang commune in Dong Giang district, Thanh My town, in Nam Giang district, Quang Nam province. The project was to sign a PPA with EVN for the 120.52 GWh annually produced and transmitted to the national grid via a 110kV transmission line of 13 km, connecting to the 220/110kV Thanh My transformer station. Commissioning was expected for 2013. The plant was to consist of 2 turbines of 15.091 MW each with an expected life of 30 years. The equipment supply contract was signed with a Chinese supplier in November 2010. Construction was estimated to last 2.5 years, O&M was expected to cost VND 6.344 billion (1%). The electricity price was expected to be VND 784.91/kWh ($0.0377/kWh). The feasibility study for the 26 MW variant of the plant was finalised in March 2009. The Investment permit was awarded in October 2009 by the provincial committee. The feasibility study for the 29MW version was finalised in April 2010. The EPC contract was signed in September 2010. The generation permits were issued in March 2010 (Department of Industry and Trade) and April 2011 (Provincial committee). Total investment was estimated at VND 634.4 billion ($30.5 million). The date of FC was unknown, but assumed here was December 2010.
