Description | Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL) has received a Letter of Award from National Highways Logistics Management Ltd (NHLML) to develop a 12.9 km ropeway project between Sonprayag and Kedarnath in Uttarakhand. The project aims to reduce the pilgrimage journey time from 8-9 hours to just 36 minutes, carrying 1,800 passengers per hour per direction. It is part of the Government of India's National Ropeways Development Programme, Parvatmala, and will be developed on a Public-Private Partnership mode on a revenue-share basis with NHLML. Construction is estimated to take six years, after which AEL will operate the ropeway for 29 years. The project is expected to improve connectivity, generate employment, and boost tourism in the region. |
