Description | In July 2009, the government of Mali sold 51% of Sotelma to Maroc Telecom for US$383 million. On 16 September 2008, the government announced it was launching again the divestiture process of the national telecommunications company Société des télécommunications du Mali (Sotelma). In July 2008, the government pre-selected 18 companies to take part in the tender, including MTN, Vodafone, Maroc Telecom and Deutsche Telecom. In January 2009, Maroc Telecom was reported has hing submitted the highest bid (US$320 million). In March 2009, Maroc Telecom, a subsidiary of France's Vivendi, won the auction to acquire 51% of Mali's national operator Sotelma for US$319 million. The definitive agreement was signed in July 2009, the sale price was finally US$383 million. 2011 investments: annual report Maroc Telecom not available yet (per June 2012). |
