Description

The One Stop Border Post Policy Development Project (OSBP PDP) is part of government’s regional integration efforts and seeks to ensure a coherent, harmonised and consistent South African approach to land (road and rail) border management. The activities included under this project are: i) Undertaking research to obtain a consensus understanding on one stop border posts; ii) Mapping out the current problems around land border management and whether OSBPs can assist in addressing these challenges; iii) Developing a set of guidelines that will manage the development of OSBPs; iv) Conducting a legal and constitutional review in support of OSBP development; v) Reviewing current border operational requirements; vi) Undertaking research on financial costing and modeling; vii) Advising on public management and governance matters, as well as any other expertise that may be required; viii) Providing guidelines for implementation, including resource allocation; ix) Establishing a foundation for South Africa’s engagement with the continent on OSBP development in relation to corridors; x) Consulting with stakeholders in and outside government on elements of an appropriate one stop border post policy; and xi) Drafting the policy.
