Description
Description | South Africa's Gas to Power Programme, launched in 2015, involves the development of LNG import infrastructure including LNG terminals or Floating Storage and Regasification Units (FSRUs) and associated marine and port infrastructure, along with gas-fired power plants such as combined cycle gas turbines (CCGTs). The programme aims to commission these projects by 2030, but delays are expected pushing commissioning to at least 2032. The most advanced procurements are LNG terminals in Richards Bay and Durban. Construction is unlikely to start before 2027 or 2028 due to the complex development cycle and current geopolitical complications affecting LNG supply. |
