South Africa High-Speed Bullet Train Project

planned

A USD 34 billion high-speed bullet train project aimed at transforming long-distance travel and strengthening economic links across South Africa. The project proposes building a high-speed corridor connecting Pretoria and Polokwane, with potential future expansion to Musina, a major commercial hub near the northern border. The rail line would stretch roughly 500 kilometers, reducing travel time between Pretoria and Polokwane from five to six hours to around 90 minutes. The project is part of a broader plan to modernize national transport infrastructure and support economic development in fast-growing urban regions.
