South Asia's First Passenger Drone Service Pilot Project

planned

The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) is preparing to launch a pilot project to introduce passenger-carrying drones, marking the first initiative of its kind in South Asia. The project aims to evaluate operational, regulatory, and safety aspects of passenger drone services, with manned electric aerial vehicles capable of carrying up to six passengers. The pilot will assess the technology for passenger transport, cargo delivery, emergency medical transport, and tourism applications before large-scale deployment.
