Description | A colorful, long-awaited signature pedestrian bridge off the MacArthur Causeway in Miami Beach, intended to welcome residents and visitors to South Beach, has encountered significant issues. Construction started more than a year and a half ago, seven years after the project was proposed, but work has now come to a standstill due to problems locating underground utilities, specifically transmission lines by Florida Power & Light (FPL). The difficulty in accurately locating these lines has caused delays and complications, with concerns that puncturing a line could cause a blackout for months. The developer has provisions to walk away if the project becomes too burdensome, and the city is exploring other bridge options while a third party investigates the situation. |
