The project has received a $49.6 million federal grant covering roughly 80% of the cost, with the city responsible for a 20% local match. The project is moving forward with federal funding finalized, right-of-way acquisition, environmental documentation, and utility clearances underway. Bidding is expected to begin by late January or February 2026, with construction anticipated to start in summer 2026 and last about two years.
