South Jetty Rehabilitation

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a $140.7-million firm-fixed-price contract to J.E. McAmis Inc. to rehabilitate the South Jetty at the mouth of the Columbia River. The repairs consist of procurement and delivery of approximately 400,000 tons of 4-to-44-ton jetty armor stones, and subsequent placement of those stones individually along the identified repair areas. Approximately 20 of the stones will be high-density stone with a minimum unit weight of 180 lb per cu ft. Major haul road construction, including filling large voids, is anticipated to gain access to all jetty repair areas. The repair area extends from Clatsop Spit to approximately three miles offshore. Construction is expected to start in November 2019 and be completed by September 2025.
