Description
Description | The South Side Lowlift Sewage Pumping Station (SPS) is located in the City of Niagara Falls and services over 5,000 residents plus industrial, commercial and institutional needs. This includes Marineland which is one of the largest tourist destinations in the City. In 2011 a condition assessment was completed and identified that major components in the pumping station require replacement and upgrades. This prompted a design assignment to rehabilitate the pumping station. The design work is nearing completion (90%) and the following upgrades are needed: Pumps (4) Mechanical systems (internal piping and 15 valves), Complete replacement of the Electrical and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems including a new electrical room to meet building code requirements Roof replacement (new sloped roof to replace existing 1,500 ft² flat roof) Odor control system Site works (security fence, laneway paving and landscaping) Pump station pumping capacity will be improved to meet requirements of the Ministry of Environment & Climate Change Environmental Compliance Approval (MOECC ECA). Currently this station is pumping at 450 l/s and the environmental compliance approval (ECA) stipulates 576 l/s |
