Description
Description | The proposed operation concerns a grant of UA 1,000,000 from Pillar III ADF 13 allocation to the Republic of South Sudan to finance the Gender Equality and Economic Empowerment for Inclusive Growth (GEEM-IG). This project seeks to strengthen the capacity of national institutions to mainstream gender into national development and to enhance women’s participation in economic activities and their financial inclusion. It proceeds on the premise that women are adversely impacted by conflict and their empowerment is key to peacebuilding and achieving inclusive growth. The project has three components i) Institutional Capacity Building and Strengthening ii) Women Economic Empowerment iii) Project management. This being primarily a capacity building grant, resources will be deployed to strengthen the capacity and effectiveness of key national institutions for gender mainstreaming including the Gender Directorate and the gender units/focal points at sector ministries. The project will also directly focus on women and promote their participation of women in economic activities through building the skills base of women entrepreneurs to manage and operate competitive businesses, deepening their financial literacy and improving their access to financial services. The project will be implemented over a period of two (02) years. |
