The South System Expansion 4 (SSE4) project by Southern Natural Gas Company involves the construction of 14 non-contiguous natural gas pipeline loops parallel to the existing South Main Line, covering approximately 279 miles across Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia. The project includes major expansions at 13 existing compressor stations, construction of five new meter or regulator stations, and modifications to 11 existing meter stations to support increased volume and system integration. The design is predominantly brownfield, utilizing existing pipeline corridors and facilities to minimize environmental impact while adding approximately 1.3 million dekatherms per day of additional transportation capacity.
