Description | South32 is developing the Hermosa Mine in the Patagonia Mountains of Southern Arizona, a modern mine extracting high-grade zinc-lead-silver and battery-grade manganese. The project includes building key infrastructure such as water management systems, power supply, site facilities, underground shaft sinking, a 138kv power-line, a new road, and a dry-stack tailing facility. Construction is about 40% complete, but federal permits for infrastructure on Forest Service land are pending. The project aims to minimize environmental impact using advanced technology and create about 900 jobs. |
