Description

Description

The purpose of this program is to provide political party assistance in selected countries in the Southern African Development Community (SADC), region to promote representative multiparty systems and support the development of democratic political parties that are responsive to citizens and capable of effective policy making. The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is a Regional Economic Community comprising 16 Member States; Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, United Republic Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The program will work at two levels. At the regional level, activities will promote networking among political parties across the region, peer-to-peer learning, and discussions about transboundary and electoral policy issues; while at the country level, work with political parties will promote inclusive, responsive political parties that are better able to develop and implement electoral and policy reforms in their respective countries.
