Southside Subdivision - Phase 5 - Muwin Crescent Development

This project aims to continue the construction of Muwin Crescent through the clearing of a wooded area scheduled for residential development. The concept for this housing development was created in consideration of recent planning and policy efforts undertaken by the community, including a comprehensive community plan update, as well as the development of a land use plan. The scope of this phase of construction would see the extension of the existing municipal water and sanitary sewer and roadway for the development of an additional 28 building lots. Additionally, community space is currently very limited in the newer portion of the community. A portion of the proposed crescent currently will not provide sufficient space for housing lots given the grade and proximity to Murray Brook. This area is proposed to be cleared, grubbed and completed with grass. This space will ultimately be the starting location of an active transportation route that was proposed in the comprehensive community plan that will connect with the pedestrian underpass that was put in two years ago to address the safety of community members accessing community services on the other side of the highway. Lastly, the project will include work related to wetland restoration as a result of the project, including: the replacement of aging culverts; excavation of the road and replacement with coarser material to permit water flow; and the removal of brush and debris in conjunction with planting of native plant species on the streambanks.
