Description | The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) and U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) are conducting a helicopter survey using a magnetic hoop to track groundwater availability and movement in southwest Michigan. The project aims to understand groundwater flow through geological formations to help regulate well permits, respond to pollution, and assist communities with water shortages. The helicopter will fly over 16 counties, collecting detailed data to improve groundwater models and monitoring. |
