India is pressing for sovereign hosting of Anthropic’s Claude AI models within the country due to concerns over the Mythos AI system's cybersecurity capabilities. Government officials have communicated that AI systems deployed in sensitive sectors such as banking, telecom, and critical infrastructure should not rely on overseas infrastructure because of compliance, jurisdictional, and national security concerns. Discussions have been held with Anthropic and other stakeholders to evaluate risks and safeguards, and India is exploring mechanisms for domestic firms to access these AI models while ensuring protection of critical sectors.
