Description
Description | The level of engagement of the young people is pretty low and three out of four young people think that they cannot have an impact on their political and social environment. The lack of inclusiveness in the decision-making process; the scarcity of physical and virtual spaces where young people can meet and discuss political opinions; the difficulty of accessing youth-friendly, reliable, and relevant information; and a lack of knowledge on how to concretely engage in the community are some of the factors hindering the democratic participation of young people. S.P.A.C.E for Youth aims to boost young people’s confidence in their ability to influence political decision-making on issues that matter to them. Through a mix of European and local activities, the project will strengthen young people's sense of European citizenship and encourage them to actively participate in the democratic process. The project is implemented by a consortium of 6 organizations from all over Europe and pursues the following objectives: -strengthening media literacy among youth to enable them to be responsible producers and users of information -increasing young people understanding of European and local decision-making processes and the possibilities for influencing them -empowering young people to set up their own local action to create change in their community The activities of the project will lead to the creation of a youth-led podcast on youth participation, local parliamentary simulations, and 2 youth-led local campaigns involving the community. Over the course of the project, we will also create 3 e-learning modules on youth participation and didactic guides for other youth organizations. At the end of the project, young people will formulate policy recommendations that will be presented to EU representatives. Thanks to 3 training courses, 2 youth exchanges, 1 final Youth conference and 1 advocacy meeting in Brussels, 450 young people will be trained and 4000 young people impacted. |
